11 Days/10 Nights

Day 1,  – Antananarivo

Arrive at Antananarivo airport and transfer to your hotel.  There is no capital in the world like Tana, as it’s colloquially known to everybody who lives here. Surrounded by lakes and green rice paddies., this is a city that imprints it’s character immediately on every first time visitor.

Day 2,3,4   Andasibe and Mantadia National Park, Analamazaotra, Vakona  and Mitsinjo Reserve

Today we begin our adventure driving east towards Andasibe National Park, visiting the  a butterfly farm en route. Here we will have the chance to see an amazing concentration of chameleons, geckos (including leaf-tailed geckos) and, of course, butterflies! The Andasibe-Mantadia corridor is situated in the foot hills of the eastern escarpment of Madagascar.  This area is known for its population of Indri Lemurs, which are the largest living lemurs as well as the Grey Bamboo Lemur and the Wooly Lemur. The sights and sounds of the various lemurs offer an unforgettable wildlife experience.

Day 5:  Antananarivo

Transfer  back to   the capital city of Tana taking in sights and scenery along the way, leaving the forest behind us .

Day 6,   Mondavia , Kirindy Forest, Baobab Alley

A new adventure begins as we drive to the dry deciduous forests of the Kirindy Forest Reserve, the gateway to the south west coast of Madagascar , home of the Fosa, the largest mammal carnivore in Madagascar as well as the giant jumping rat . It is also home to seven species of Lemur  and a number of endemic reptiles the flora is equally unusual.  Once can expect to see fosa, giant jumping rat, Madame Berthe’s mouse lemur, narrow-striped mongoose, red-fronted brown lemur.This area claims to have the greatest diversity of primates in the world.  En route we will visit the legendary Baobab Alley, these giant 800 year trees have remained preserved for religious reasons.

Day 7         Betania Village – Scenic flight of the Tsingy of Bermaraha

An early start today, depending on the tide , we set sail on a traditional dhow through the port of Botry and on to  exploring  the mangroves wetlands  and the colorful fishing village of Betania . Here we will spend time with the Vezo fisherman, a semi nomadic coastal people of Southern Madagascar. The day ends with a scenic flight over the Tsingy of Bemaraha along the Mozambique Channel and we are back in the Capital of Antananarivo for the night.

Day 8,9,10

Transfer to the airport for your onward charter flight to the remote peninsula of Anjajavy, located on the West Coast of Madagascar. This unique area offers dry deciduous forests of Palissandre trees ,ebony trees , as well as dense mangrove wetland  areas , Tsingly limestone rock formations and prestine azure blue beaches where you can relax and soak up the sun. Walk through the forests to the Tsingy Limestone or Coral Pinnacles, or enjoy an adventure to the  cave of the Sakalava  and experience the ancient underworld of Stalagmites and Stalactites , this cave is home to a large Madagascar bat population. Hike to the Port of Amulets and visit the giant tortoise conservation project. Kayak through the mangrove wetlands in search of the Malagasi Fish Eagle or snorkel and swim at the local beach. A relaxing end to your Safari in Madagascar.

Charter flight back to Antananarivo for your onward flight back to USA
