Boris grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he enjoyed camping in the jungles and diving the tropical waters. After studying plant science at University, Boris started a guiding career in the wilderness of Alaska where he rowed boats on the rivers, kayaked glacial lakes, captained whale-watching boats and fished for Halibut .

One Alaskan winter he got the opportunity to go to Antarctica, it changed his life. Since then, he has guided and led trips from the high Arctic to the tropics of Central America, and the deserts of Mexico. He is a keen birdwatcher and an accomplished photographer. He shares a home in southwest Colorado with his wife Eva, where they enjoy skiing, mountain biking and hiking the trails of the San Juan Mountains.
