Born in Zimbabwe and raised between a 45,000-acre game ranch and the town of Victoria Falls, Ross grew up with wildlife quite literally on his doorstep. Moving to South Africa’s southern coastline added the ocean to that early love of wild places, and he soon became as comfortable surfing and diving as he was in the bush. After qualifying as a PADI Specialty Dive Instructor and diving extensively from the kelp forests of Cape Town to the warm reefs of Zanzibar, he spent several years exploring dive sites across Southeast Asia and the Caribbean.
In recent years, Ross has worked throughout the South Pacific, Papua New Guinea, and West Papua, and his more recent expeditions have taken him diving in the Arctic and Antarctica, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, and Madagascar. He now splits his guiding career between African safaris and leading his own small-group diving expeditions, offering guests a rare combination of bushcraft, ocean expertise, and calm leadership in remote environments.
Based in Cape Town, Ross continues to travel widely, guided by an enduring passion for wilderness—whether reached on foot, by Zodiac, or beneath the surface of the sea.
